The municipality of Stintino insist on the homonymous peninsula, the last strip of Sardinian land that extends from the valley of the Nurra towards the island of Asinara, located a short distance away. The latter houses the Asinara National Park, established in 1997, and for which Stintino represents the closest embarkation. The coast towards the Sardinian Sea is called "mare di fuori" and alternates between cliffs and coves of sand and stones at the end of small valleys, such as Biggiu Marinu (or "Bue marino", Sardinian name of the monk seal), which is also known as Valle della Luna, Coscia di donna and Cala del vapore
